Post show activities

After my show at Venus on the Half Shell my studio was a complete disaster. I had to clean it before I could start any new projects. Here are a few photos to give you an idea.

Fabric everywhere!!!

Here's the same shelf a little more organzied.

More fabric messes!

A little better, but still needs work. At least I can walk around in my studio now!

I made a few more stockings for ArtMart at Cafe Nola.

This was my space at ArtMart yesterday. I got to share the stage area with my friend and local artist Kevin Good.

These are some of Kevin's pieces. He's amazingly talented. You should check out his instagram @johnnycrowhand

And then today I started to list new things on etsy. Check them out!

Now that the holidays are almost here I need to start focusing on Christmas presents. Stay tuned for some hand made gifts and new garments!

Window display and show prep

My show at Venus on the Half Shell is tomorrow night and I am very excited. I did the window display on Wednesday and tonight I set up the pop-up. Here are some photos of the progress...

Streaming some fabric yo-yo's for some garlands.

They look super cute on this Christmas tree.

I hung these ornaments on the tree and also from the ceiling.

This is the finished window. It's hard to get a good photo because of the reflections, but you can get the feel of it. Simple with a gold and red theme.

I made some stockings to hang on the mantel.

Here are a few sneak peak photos of my pop-up:

I hope you can make it out for the event tomorrow!

Window Display Preparation

My wonderful bosses at Venus on the Half Shell  let me do a window display for my shows.  For this show I decided to do a red and gold window. I'm trying to keep it festive. This is what I have going on for the window, which I will put up tomorrow.

I made this dress a few weeks ago. I decided to feature it as the main piece in the window. My boss Mike took this cool shot of the dress.

I decided to then make a kids dress matching the fabric.

Finished Kids dress.

I made gold and red yo-yo's out of scrap fabric I had left over.

I'm making garlands to hang on a mini christmas tree. It seems dorky, but I swear it looks really cute.

I also decided to make stockings to hang. Im not too thrilled with how this one came out, its a little big. So I think I am going to re-make smaller ones tonight with red velvet and fuzzy fabric.

I also spray painted some embroidery hoops to make ornaments to hang.

A finished ornament.

And now this is what my studio looks like!!!!

Wish me luck to finish everything for the window display, and stay tuned because I am putting it up tomorrow!

A few more panel pieces...

I've been making a lot of new pieces for my upcoming show at Venus on the Half Shell. Here is what I have been up to...

I made a few more panel dresses.

This is a forties rayon fabric matched with  purple velvet.

I found this beautiful fabric at an antique mall and decided to pair it with velvet for a semi- holiday look.

I'm really happy with how this turned out.

I went to Discount Fabrics in Thurmont and got this amazing tweed fabric. I decided to make some high waisted skirts in differing sizes for my show.
Here's how they turned out. They are simple but look good on everyone!

Hope you can make it out to my show!

Panel work

I have been working on new pieces for my show at Venus on the Half Shell. Some of my new garments have panel  work. Here is an idea of what I have been up to.
I have been making crop tops with matching skirts.

This is a skirt I am currently working on.

These are crop tops I am currently working on. As you can see the left top matches the skirt above. I like the idea of wearing them together or as seperates.

I am also working on a few dresses.

This is a sneak peak of what I am going to cut tonight. Purple velvet paired with vintage floral fabric!!!

Stay tuned for more pieces, and I hope you can make it to my show!!

Flyer Preparation

I am having a holiday show at Venus on the Half Shell December 6th.  I like to make an event flyer for every show to get as many people to come out as possible. A lot of work went into this flyer, here is what I did.

I decided I wanted the flyer to be very festive, so I made a Christmas dress.  I had to cut three layers of this dress since the gold fabric was see through.

I had to hand sew the gold fabric layer to an under layer to treat as one piece.

I then sewed the two pieces together so that the bodice would be lined.

this is a photo of the two pieces before I sewed them together.

I then gathered a skirt to sew to the bodice with red velvet fabric.

Voila! A Holiday dress.

I decided I wanted to have a few accessories to photograph for the flyer. I thought I would make some slippers and a matching eye-mask to make the photo even more festive.

I chose some fuzzy fabric for the lining and red and pink pin striped for the main fabric.

Here are my shapeless yet very cozy slippers :)

Then I had to set up where I wanted to take the photo. I decided to hang some of my hoops to add a little more detail.

Heres where I decided to set up.

I am adjusting my eye mask and looking silly, but I actually like how this photo came out and am going to use it for my flyer.

After making my friend Darian take a lot of pictures, this ended up being one of my favorites.

So now that I have the photo done, my talented sister Liz can make my flyer. Stay tuned, and I hope you can make it out to the event!!!
