Etsy Photo Shoot

Last week I finally got around to putting some of my garments up in my Etsy shop. My friend Jenn helped me photograph these garments. Everything is handmade by me, and a lot of the garments are made with vintage fabric. Here are some behind the scene shots from the shoot.

We took the photos in my friends bedroom because I wanted a simple white background. Here I am modeling a strapless pointed sweet heart dress with panels. This dress is made with a floral fabric from the forties as well as velvet.

A gathered waist dress made with vintage fabric.

This is a wrap skirt I made with vintage fabric. There are little tigers in the tiger lily flower.

Jenn behind the camera working her magic. All the photos in this post are from my phone, but the photos on Etsy are taken with Jenns camera.

I make this high waisted skirt style a lot. I just love the fit, and I think it looks flattering on everyone.

I call this the business casual teacher look.

I made Jenn step out from behind the camera and model this high waisted skirt.

These are just a few shots from the day of the process. Please check out more items in my Etsy shop.  Any feed back is much appreciated.

More Pinata's and a new wrap skirt

I have been hibernating a lot this last week, the weather has been so cold and we have had a few snow storms. But my friend Jenn and I have made a few more pinatas, and I made a new wrap skirt. Check them out. xo

We decided to make the heart eye cat emoji for valentines day. This is a photo of the paper mache drying.

Orion made a new friend haha.

We also made the waaaah face emoji for Valentine's Day as a joke.  The point being, "waaah it's Valentine's Day, but thats ok because I love my cat." Here we are posing with the finished pinatas.

We also made a camera piñata for an Oscars party we attended.
Here is the finished piñata.

I also made a new wrap skirt. I am really happy with how the shape turned out.

This is is an up close picture of the fabric, I love the tiger lilies.

Stay tuned for new merchandise up on Etsy, and more creative projects!!!

Custom Orders

This last week I have been working on a few custom orders. On etsy I got a request for an 18th month  old version of a baby dress I had on sale. So I adjusted my pattern and sent that out.

Here is my readjusted pattern

It turned out really cute.

My cousin also asked me and my friend Jenn  to make a custom piñata for her little boys birthday party. His party is going to be Mexican themed so we decided to make a taco piñata.

We made the shape out of cardboard, leaving an opening for candy. And then we decorated it.

We added meat, tomatoes, olives, lettuce and cheese out of tissue paper.

We even made a sombrero!!! We decided to add a face to make it a little more kid appropriate. I am really happy with how it turned out.

I also have been asked to make wrap skirts. So this week I started working on patterns for that. I want them to be one size, but I am thinking now that I might make two sizes, one being s/m and the other m/l just to save fabric and make them not as bulky.

I found this really awesome lip fabric from a thrift store and thought it was perfect for Valentine's Day. This skirt is an one size fits all, but it is leaning towards the M/L side.

I'm super happy with how this turned out. It is available on Etsy.

This is another wrap skit I made from a tapestry a friend gave me. This one is more of a S/M

Over all I am pretty happy with my week. I want to get more wrap skirts complete and piñatas made so stay tuned.

Dinosaur Piñata

My friend Jenn and I made a dinosaur piñata for my nephews birthday party. After researching a few tutorials we found this one most helpful. http://oursaturdayafternoon.blogspot.com/2014/01/diy-pinata-tutorial.html?m=1

Here are some photos of the process.

We used balloons, cardboard, a cereal box, duct tape, toilet paper rolls, and a folder to make the shape.

This is what the dinosaur looked like before we started the paper mâché process.

We did three layers of paper mâché. We cut two inch strips of newspaper and used 2 parts water and one part flour for the mâché.

Once the third layer was dry we used modge podge and green crepe paper to cover the news paper.

This was a process because we had to wait for the modge podge to dry before completley getting the under belly covered.

We then added orange details to make it look more like a dinosaur. We named him Roy.

We cut a half circle on his top to fill his belly with candy. Once Roy was stuffed we simply closed the half circle and put more crepe paper down to cover the slit.

We then put two holes for him to hang evenly. We reinforced the holes on the inside with duct tape.

We both really fell in love with Roy.

And so did my nephew!!!

This was such a fun project! Jenn and I are planning on making more piñata's, so stay tuned!
